Motorcycle Clothing
Whatever season it is, let's put the right clothes on and go!
- Jacket and pants
- Boots
- Gloves
- Dressed to Ride from Paolo Volpara (OMM Riders Academy of Turkey)
- Leather or synthetic? About construction materials
- Crash protectors (armour pads)
- A discussion about water-tightness (Gore-Tex etc)
The following are the essential features of a well-designed motorcycle garment:
1. Protects from adverse weather conditions, i.e. cold, rain, wind, heat
and sun. The right clothing prevents from feeling cold, dehydration and sunstroke, thus it
creates comfort and the driver's attention is kept on the road only.
2. Protects from injuries, at least in some cases. But don't
expect miracles here. And don't drive dangerously just because you feel more
safe when wearing protective clothing.
Head first and then legs are the parts of the human body most exposed to injuries.
Unfortunately, protective boots and pants are the clothes we seldom use.
3. Makes driver easily visible at night (because of the reflective bands).
