Alarms: Electromagnetic compatibility

Term referred to the conforming to an international standard about immunity and emission of electromagnetic interference. The most known standard of this type is the related part of the CE approval. You may already notice this stamp in many electrical equipments. It is theoretically required for any electrical equipment that it is produced or imported in EC.

Conforming to such a standard, of course, does not completely ensure that your pager or the ignition interference won't trouble the alarm. However, it's definitely better than not (conforming). Additionally, CE standard sets lower limits to immunity against electrostatic discharges and impulse currents (they are mainly produced by the ignition circuit). This is a welcome lower limit on the quality of the alarm design.
